A few months ago, Lulu.com joined Amazon in banning
the publication and distribution of The Bad War. Despite strong sales which earned revenue for them as well
as the author, the "powers that be" have decreed that World War II history cannot be altered.
The Bad War is a classic and it must -- as a
matter of principle -- remain in print and in professionaly-bound format! The main print-on-demand publishing firms
will not touch The Bad War. Therefore, a regular printer was selected to run a batch, for which we had to
pay for upfront. But because we cannot afford to print a 1000 at a time paying
up front, the 100 or so books that we bought were much more expensive per copy, and then there is the shipping. And without
Amazon or Lulu's marketing and search engine behind it, The Bad War will never be able to sell like it was.
The good news is that The Bad War
is now back in print. Unfortunately,
the retail price has to be a bit higher than before because not only is the printing more expensive, but for each book, we
will have to buy bubble-wrap envelopes, and then pack, hand-address and physically go
and wait in line at the the post office.
for out-of-the-USA sales, we will have to fill out special forms as well. (Amazon & Lulu had European
branches). But the beautiful 8.5 x 11, 316 page, 600 illustration book is still well worth the price. Get one for you
and one for a friend!
